[Today, the view is... of a rock. A very large rock, that has been carved into more of a slab, really. From the looks of the surroundings, it's not far from the entrance to Union Cave. And carved into the rock are... names.

After a moment, the video will turn to a grinning Asuma.]

It took some time, but the monument has been made! I've taken the opportunity to write in as many names as I've gathered, but if anyone still wants to contribute, feel free to. I will be here for a while longer, so I don't mind adding a few more!

The stone itself is easy enough to carve into; anyone can add themselves. I've put up a sign to direct newcomers to it, so hopefully that will be enough.

[The background shifts suddenly as he takes a seat, leaning against the stone wall.]

So, what has everyone been up to as of late? I know that after this I plan to make a visit to Violet City!

...It's good that you're keeping busy.

Although I'm confused as to how productive this is.

People seemed to be supportive of a monument with everyone's names on it, so I thought I would go ahead and make one. It makes for a good reminder, don't you think?

Is it so important to be remembered here?

There are many who think so. People are constantly coming and going from this place, so having solid proof of a friend who has since left can be comforting, I think.

I suppose it makes sense.

...Since I'm not there, can I ask you to carve my name in as well? For record keeping purposes.

...What a coincidence. That would be two Misakis I know here, then! Excuse me a moment.

[He stands and vanishes from the picture for a bit. Nearby is the sound of stone being scratched into. However, it isn't long before he returns.]

There. Your name has been engraved as well!

Thanks. I'm sure quite a few others will appreciate your effort, if nothing else. It could be beneficial in the future.

A monument?

Why would you need something like that?

Some people wanted a physical reminder of some of the friends they made here who have since left, that's all.

In some cases, perhaps. Memories do fade over time, after all. But I think there are probably other reasons to want a physical reminder as well.

Like what? It just seems... pointless. People die all the time back home. Why bother?

Sometimes it's just a matter of comfort. It may be pointless, but the mere fact that it is there may set some minds a little more at ease.

Of course. It may not be home, but that won't stop people from creating bonds. It would be difficult, not to mention lonely not to.

Everyone lies. They hide who they are from everyone else, because they're afraid of what they'd see.

[ He pauses for a moment to think. ] You said, well wrote, earlier you were not sure if people remembered being here after they returned home, right? And they returned the same exact time they left?

I did not get a good look at the names. Is there a "Pierre", maybe "Piref", or "Gizelo" on the list by any chance?

Those names are not on the monument. [He's quick to reply: he's quite well acquainted with the names by now.] Are they friends from home?

You could say that. [ Quiet 'hmph'. ] I guess I am just feeling a bit home sick. [ aka he misses having someone to boss around. ]

That is perfectly understandable. There are many who feel the same even long after they have arrived here.

Although who knows; you may just see one of them come here someday.

Only time will tell.

[ Hmmm ] How long do you think it would take you to get to Violet City? I only got there a few days ago. It would be nice to say "hello" in person since I have only really talked to people over this device.

From here, it would be about a week. Of course, if you want to leave before then, I'm sure we could meet up on the road.

I am actually running out of money, so I may stay to try to make some more. Which is another thing I wanted to inquire, do I just ask a random place if I can work there?

That should work. The natives here are very open to new workers, so finding a job just about anywhere is not difficult.

Is there an easy job to do in Violet City that you know of?

Whenever I needed a job, I usually got one in a restaurant as a waiter. It's very tiring though - you'll spend a lot of time on your feet.
