[Video; Action for the Goldenrod Breeding Centre]

[It's late at night when the feed clicks on-- and there is a weary face from Asuma to accompany it. He speaks quietly, only too aware of the hour.]

Hopefully I'm not waking anyone who was already asleep. I seem to have woken up, and somehow I can't quite get back to it.

So instead of tossing and turning in bed... I thought I'd pose another question. Ah, but it's a little morbid, so if you don't want to discuss it, I would be happy to talk about other things instead.

[He pauses for a moment, choosing his words carefully.]

In your lives... how do you come to terms with your own mortality? It's something I had to come to terms with quickly in my own life due to circumstances, but I've become curious. All of us - well, no. Generalizations don't always work here, now do they? Most of us won't live forever. Some even come from dangerous backgrounds where the chance of survival is not especially high. How do you, personally deal with this?

[After these solemn words, he gives a slight chuckle.]

...Of course, it's late. I might even regret this question by the time morning comes properly. Ah, well. If you don't want to talk about dark things, answer me this instead: how are you, and what do you plan to do for the holidays?

[It's time for a shot by Skarmory cam! The camera bobs slightly with the beat of metal wings, but it's still very easy to see Asuma sitting on some steps with his back to a building, a small crowd of children in front of him. It looks like he's putting on a short show.]

Watch very closely, okay?

[His hands are both out, empty with the palms up. No tricks here!]

One, two...

Three!

[Suddenly, there is a burst of smoke as small flowers and tiny birds go flying into the air! Though the flowers eventually meet the ground again, most of the birds seem to be fine with scattering.

All except for one particularly young one, at least. It returns to Asuma, coaxed along by a bit of bread and an outstretched finger for it to perch on.
] There's a good one. Now, who would like to help me with another one?

[One of the children volunteers, and Asuma carefully sets the bird in her hands. Since this is a trick that requires a closer look, the camera 'mon moves closer accordingly.]

Cup your hands around it, but be careful to give it a lot of space, alright? Now, focus on your hands and imagine not one, but two birds.

[The girl nods eagerly, carefully cradling the bird in her hands. Though she can cover the entire bird for the most part, there are still holes from which one can see the occasional flutter of the bird within. Asuma for his part crouches down and holds his hands out in much the same pose, although his hands are empty.]

One... two... three.

[This time, he speaks softly, slowly bringing his hands apart to reveal an identical bird, down to the last brown dot smack in the middle of its forehead. The girl gives a small gasp of surprise as she opens her own hands, and the two matching birds give a few hops before flying away. The girl is left laughing in delight.]
