[Video/Action for Goldenrod]
Looks like we've finally made it! It's been a long trip, but my Pokémon and I have arrived safely in Goldenrod. I regret not being able to take it at a slower pace, but hopefully the time we spend here will make up for it.
[He pauses here, looking thoughtful.]
I've been... curious, to say the least. In the time I've spent here, I've heard of a few different worlds, and they all seem to have differing views on the subject of magic. So now, I would like to bring the question to all of Johto - what is magic like in your world? If it doesn't exist, what is it supposedly like? My own world relies on magic, so I can't help but wonder.
[Later; Action at the Breeding Centre]
[Asuma arrives, Reika the Gloom following him as always. He's mostly just checking the place out for now, but he'll probably make his way to the front desk at some point. Bother? Help the guy out? It's up to you!]

action; why did I write video--
Hm? What's up Chie-- [Oh! Notices Asuma there.] Oh, hey. Are you looking for someone?
action; habit? 8D
action; I GUESS. I'm usually good about that though |D
action; Then just a simple mistake, I suppose!
Still, I'm impressed - this place is obviously well maintained. Just how many people work here?
action; Story of my life |D;;
We do our best here... I mean, nobody'd really want to buy stuff otherwise, you know? Souji and I are the full time people... oh, Merlin, too. We've got a few other people helping out when they're in town, so it's usually around... I dunno, 8 total? It depends on the day, hehe.

[[dodging that other question derp derp]]
[Video]
[He takes a Pokéball from his belt and releases a Pokémon, before pointing the camera at it. A Sandshrew is by his feet, blinking up at the 'Gear.]
Shrew?
Not sure what to call it yet, though.
[Video]
Maybe Seitaad? [[since it's too cute to be a Sarlacc~]]

[Video]
The name of a Navajo sand monster. [[that he found out about because they named a dinosaur after it.]]

And magic? [[A small pause in thought.]]
Well, magic both does and doesn't exist in my world...
The magic that does exist is based on illusions. Using clever tricks to convince your audience that they're seeing the impossible, even though it is completely within achieving as long as you know how to perform the feat. Underhanded when used to con people, but...it can be absolutely charming otherwise.
The magic that doesn't exist makes its home in myths, legends, stories and fairy tales. Able to conjure elements out of seemingly nothing, such as grand pillars of fire or intimidating waves of water. Able to summon creatures of all sorts, from wolves to birds to horrifying imps or the living dead. Putting great dragons to sleep, waking fair maidens from eternal slumber, levitating the un-levitable...there is no end to what fictional magic is able to do.
Video;
...Curious. In my world, both illusions with sleight of hand and real magic exist. Of course, the former is a poor substitute for the latter, but it's entertaining to perform. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there were those who used it for less... noble things.
Video;
And yes, unfortunately it is used as such where I come from. Though...both exist in your world? I know well what illusions are like, but...would be interested in hearing about the latter from someone who's experienced it first hand.
If, provided, you have the time of course.
Video;
I suppose... the main thing is, it allows people to do many things that are normally impossible. However, in order to be able to utilize it, certain rules and formula must be followed. That, and one must have the aptitude for magic in the first place.
Video;
So if a person does not possess the aptitude, are they therefor rendered unable to use magic? Would they not be able to learn?

I'm sure there are worlds with different powers, even if they don't necessarily call it magic.
video.
That is definitely a possibility. I hadn't thought of that, actually.

Not the sparkly, wand-wavey kind.

[His voice becomes deadly serious.]
What was this magic used for?
