[Video/Action for Goldenrod]

Looks like we've finally made it! It's been a long trip, but my Pokémon and I have arrived safely in Goldenrod. I regret not being able to take it at a slower pace, but hopefully the time we spend here will make up for it.

[He pauses here, looking thoughtful.]

I've been... curious, to say the least. In the time I've spent here, I've heard of a few different worlds, and they all seem to have differing views on the subject of magic. So now, I would like to bring the question to all of Johto - what is magic like in your world? If it doesn't exist, what is it supposedly like? My own world relies on magic, so I can't help but wonder.

[Later; Action at the Breeding Centre]

[Asuma arrives, Reika the Gloom following him as always. He's mostly just checking the place out for now, but he'll probably make his way to the front desk at some point. Bother? Help the guy out? It's up to you!]

Magic isn't used much, if at all, in my world. There are magicians, but their magic is made of tricks, not the kind of magic you are probably referring to.

It seems magic is even rarer than I thought. I'm assuming you mean the sort that relies on sleight of hand and illusions, correct?

That's correct. They're often referred to as tricks--magic tricks.

I'm sure there are worlds with different powers, even if they don't necessarily call it magic.

I figured as much. We have that in my world as well, as it were.

That is definitely a possibility. I hadn't thought of that, actually.

[ He nods. ] What was the magic of your world like, if you are fine with disclosing that information?

Well... It allowed us to do a lot of things that wouldn't normally be possible, that's for sure. But after seeing what the technology here does, we may not have needed it after all.

Ah.. is there not as much technology in your world?

Not nearly as much as this one, no.

... Which do you like better? [ The environment. They talk about it often in California. ]

It's hard to say... They both have their ups and downs, really.

I suppose that is true. But this was probably new for you, then..

It was. I think I'm starting to get used to it, but there are still a lot of things I haven't quite figured out yet.

I suppose that's true. I hope it hasn't caused any trouble for you..

Only a little. I like to think I adapt easily when I have to.

That's good. I'm glad to hear. [ Relief ]

Did you have an easy time adjusting, yourself? It seems to me that everyone took a little getting used to this place, no matter what kind of world they come from.

It wasn't difficult. The technology here is mostly similar to the one in my world. The creatures, of course, were different, but I had some acquaintances who helped me get used to this world.

That's good to hear. The people in Johto are really helpful, aren't they?

They are, though those people were also from my world.

Even luckier! Who exactly are they, if you don't mind me asking?

... Most of them are gone, now. One of them was a man named Larry Butz.

[ He shakes his head. ] They returned home, that's all. I'm just here longer than them.

That is very true. Still, I'd imagine it's still painful at times...

You must be strong to deal with that.

I don't think I'm that strong, or weak. They're just going home, so it's not as bad to think about it than if it was anything else.
